A very good start for the 1st May.
Although the influence of the Helm wind was quite evident today with that horrid north easterly, the trout were feeding on the abundance of invertebrate life we are now enjoying on the Eden. Salmon are moving again and there have been a few fish taken on the fly in the mid-tens of pounds. The water is about as good as it gets and is in perfect ply, we seemed to have missed the main rainfall in this area.
Nicholas and Avril joined me today on the middle river, they are such good company and very keen fishers. Second run through the pool and Nicholas was arguing with a salmon to whose fly it really was!
A good outcome after fifteen tense minutes.
A very fresh cock fish of fourteen pounds which was quickly released.
