The ladies salmon course on the 11th at Kirkwood on the Annan - http://www.kirkwood-lockerbie.co.uk/outdoor-schools-and-rural-courses/salmon-school-2/ was just brilliant. Great company, very good fly casting, a good laugh and an absolute pleasure to be there.
It was a great shame that the river rose overnight for the start of the first day, the afternoon before was at a good level and fish showing in the pools. The Spey casting went extremely well with some very impressive performances.
The fishing was from the bank for the next two days as the rain persisted, the mobile fishing hut proved its worth with dry cover, warmth, hot drinks and demonstrations on various topics.
There was plenty of help on hand with Anthony Steel, Fiona Armstrong, Sue McNiven, Mark Bowler and myself. The food and accommodation was excellent, cooked breakfast, packed lunches, cakes, soups and a lovely evening dinner, many thanks to Rachael for that! Mark did some fly tying in the evening with Q&A’s.
Here is some feedback from the ladies on the course -
