Steve and Ged joined me on the Annan at Kirkwood last week, it was their first visit to the river. Conditions were pretty good with the water running off nicely from a rise the day before. This is Steve’s first season fishing for salmon.
Steve opted for a size twelve Boyo fly on an intermediate tip, his casting was good, there were fish showing in the pools and it was only a matter of time. It is always a very special moment when these things happen and it was a privilege to be there.
This was Steve’s first ever salmon, it was played admirably to a conclusion, a very nice fish of thirteen and a half pounds!
