River Eden

The salmon fishing has slowed somewhat the last few days with very little coming off the tides at present. We have enjoyed a spell of good fishing up until then with some fine fish taken mostly on fly. Most of the kelts seemed to have now dropped back into the estuary, and the salmon that were in the lower river have gone up to pastures new.The trout fishing is improving all the time, the hatches are having longer periods now when there is not a stiff breeze and cool air temperatures during the day.

The river level at this point is summer height, clear and hovering around the lower fifties. The grannom have not yet made any sort of serious appearance, just the odd flurries at the moment.

Quite a few otters on the river this year again, and there have been Osprey also stopping off for lunch on their journey north.
