River Eden

Fishing for both trout and salmon the second half of the month has been quite outstanding. There have been plenty of fish entering the Eden off each tide, it has been difficult fishing during the middle part of the day but morning and evening sessions have proved fruitful. Good numbers of bright grilse and some larger fish among them have been gracing the lower river, which is a great sight to see. Most fly patterns seem to work both large and small fished with a sink tip and no mending when the water is low and clear as it is.

The trout and grayling fishing has been surprisingly good during the very bright and hot days, in conditions you would think that would not be desirable for good fishing, and the evening rises are very short lived; but there you are, who knows what makes these things happen from time to time?
