On the river with Trevor from Cockermouth today, it was his first ever visit to running water. The day was bathed in sunshine and the water pristine and very clear, there was sporadic hatches of Large Darks throughout the afternoon with the occasional fish rising. After some initial Spey casting guidance Trevor was ready for his first run down the pool.
The casting was good, after some mending of the fly line during the swing to slow things down a little it was not long before Trevor was in action on a pheasant tail nymph.
Well played….
Landed and released
Followed by a few more, a great day out and great company!
